Have any of you guys used Wendlers 5/3/1? If so what are your thoughts/opinions on it?

It works well. I love it so far.

I also made great progress just doing whatever Lance told me to do.

thanks! I've been doing it for a few weeks and like it so far. Its just hard to accept that sometimes the weights seem a little light and also that you only do like 2 assistance exercises.

The template for assistance work isn't set in stone. In the book he lays out examples of assistance work that have like 3-4 exercises after the main lift. The weights on the main lifts only start out light. Once you make it through a few waves is when its really fun.

yeah, I'm on my first wave. I can tell that will get more nuts. Right now I'm following his outline for the program he calls The Triumvirate which is main lift plus 2 assistance exercises. I bought the book and was a little confused by what assistance lifts to do but figured it out. The hard part about that is deciding what lifts are best and most productive for me. Right now I'm taking the ones I know I'm weak on and trying to get stronger on them, like pull ups, anything for pressing, etc.
